This project was a key portion of the South Bronx Greenway development project and consisted of waterfront rehabilitation and improvements to protect future parkland and commercial waterfront properties. The work included demolition of the severely deteriorated seawalls, relieving platforms and steel sheet pile cellular cofferdam bulkheads, construction of a new steel H-pile supported concrete seawall, and installation of scour protection and riprap revetments. Phoenix Marine encountered difficult pile driving conditions at the location due to both man-made and natural obstructions. These challenges were overcome through the use of complex falsework and stringent quality control procedures. The project also required careful coordination with ongoing upland construction, trucking operations, and other local business activities.
